تالك، سيليكات منيزيم آب‌دار است كه در طبيعت به صورت سنگهاي ورقه‌اي و از رنگهاي سفيد تا سبز ديده مي‌شود.
تالك به علت جلا و درخشندگي و پخش بسيار خوب در صنايع مختلف از جمله رنگ، پلاستيك، لاستيك، كاغذ، ايزولاسيون، كاشي و سراميك مورد مصرف است.
