لايم استون با فرمول شيميايي CaCo3 مي‌باشد. اين ماده در آب نامحلول بوده و براي افزايش وزن گل‌هاي پايه آبي تا وزن 110pcf و گل‌هاي روغني تا وزن 100pcf از آن استفاده مي‌شود. وزن مخصوص پودر لايم‌استون 207 گرم بر سانتي‌متر مكعب بوده و چون به خوبي در اسيد حل مي‌شود در مخازن نفتي و گاز به عنوان ماده وزن‌افزا از آن استفاده مي‌شود.
